MEETINGS2027 Sacco And Vanzetti Centennial: Call for Committee Members and Events In 1927, Nicola Sacco and Bartolomeo Vanzetti were judicially murdered by the state of Massachusetts. These two Italian immigrants, workers and anarchists both, dedicated their lives to lighting the way toward a world free from capitalist exploitation and oppression under authoritarian governments. After a long and thoroughly unjust trial, where they were convicted of murder and robbery, the two men were electrocuted on August 23rd. Their funeral procession was the largest gathering in Massachusetts until 2002, and their words and bravery inspired generations of people across the planet to struggle for a better future.
Sacco and Vanzetti died hopeful, knowing that people like you would continue their fight.
Now, we call on you to pick up the torch Sacco and Vanzetti carried 100 years ago.
Today, the capitalist class is as greedy and ruthless as ever, with billionaires taking up the role of the robber barons of old. They wreak havoc across the globe, squeezing humanity for every last drop of profit they can wrought.
Authoritarian governments continue to murder and beat down the weak, vulnerable, and marginalized, specifically targeting foreign-born workers, and reserving special vitriol for political idealists with dreams of a better world.
Since 2006, the Sacco and Vanzetti Commemoration Society has held annual events to carry on the memory and dreams of Sacco and Vanzetti. For the past two decades, we have worked with current social movements to highlight the connections between the struggles of a century ago and today.
2027 is fast approaching, we are preparing to make the year a special and memorable celebration of Sacco and Vanzetti’s legacy. We cannot, however, achieve this alone.
The Sacco and Vanzetti Commemoration Society invites you to join the Centennial Committee, or to otherwise participate in commemorative actions.
We are looking for organizers, artists, musicians, scholars, and everyone else who would like to lend a hand.
August 2027 will be Sacco and Vanzetti month in Boston, with cultural and political events. Please join us in building toward these centennial events.
If you cannot join us in Boston, we call on you to hold commemorative events in your own cities and towns. These events could include protests, screenings of Sacco and Vanzetti related films, staging of plays, public readings of Sacco and Vanzetti’s letters or other words, and rallies in support of migrant workers and political prisoners. Please send us information about your events and we will help promote them.
We will also host 2 events in August 2026:
Sunday, August 23, 5PM Sacco And Vanzetti Day Of Solidarity With Political Prisoners.
Join us and our allies for a hybrid (in person/online) event, to write letters to current political prisoners.
Sunday, August 30, 3PM
Rally and speakout on the Boston Common
